ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

Heat, silence, cold water. Repeat.

Start slowly, let the sauna heat up and give yourself enough time. A Swedish sauna evening isn't something you need to rush. Spend 10–15 minutes in the heat, step outside to cool down and, if you feel like it, take a dip in the lake. Then head back inside and repeat. Two or three rounds are usually plenty. Bring water, a towel and something warm to put on between rounds. Especially in autumn and winter, the contrast between the hot sauna and the cold air outside is what makes the experience.

THE PERFECT SAUNA ROUND

Heat. Cool. Rest. Repeat.

There are no strict rules. Take your time, listen to your body and find the rhythm that feels right.

01

Warm up

Start with around 10-15 minutes in the sauna. Sit back, slow down and let the heat do its work.

02

Cool down

Step outside and cool down in the fresh air. If you feel comfortable, take a quick dip in the lake.

03

Rest & repeat

Have some water, relax for a few minutes and head back inside when you are ready. Two or three rounds are plenty.

SAUNA INFUSION

A simple Aufguss.

You will find sauna oil and a bucket at the house. Keep it simple: a little oil goes a long way.

01

Prepare the water

Fill the bucket with water and add only a few drops of sauna oil. Too much oil can burn on the hot stones and create an unpleasant smell.

02

Warm up first

Sit in the dry sauna for around 5 minutes before the first infusion. Give your body time to warm up slowly.

03

First Aufguss

Pour a small ladle of the scented water gently over the hot stones. Use a towel to move the warm steam around the sauna.

04

Second round

After a few minutes, add a little more water and fan the steam again. Keep it controlled so the full sauna round still feels comfortable.

A GOOD RULE

The goal is not to make the sauna unbearably hot. Build the heat gradually and aim for a comfortable round rather than chasing a temperature or a fixed time.

TOO HOT? MOVE DOWN.

Heat rises. If the upper bench feels too intense, move to a lower bench. If the hot air feels uncomfortable on your face, cup your hands loosely in front of your nose and mouth and breathe slowly. If it still does not feel good, step outside and cool down.

MAKE IT COMFORTABLE

Extra towels & bathrobes.

Planning a proper sauna evening? Extra towels and bathrobes can be added to your stay, so you have something dry and warm waiting between sauna rounds.

SAUNA SAFETY

Relax, but listen to your body.

01

Stay hydrated

Drink water before, during and after your sauna session. Heat and sweating can dehydrate you quickly.

02

Keep rounds sensible

Around 10-15 minutes per round is plenty for most people. Step out sooner if you feel dizzy, uncomfortable or overheated.

03

Be careful with alcohol

Avoid heavy drinking before or during sauna use. Heat and alcohol are not a good combination.

04

Cold water is optional

A lake dip can feel amazing, but it is never required. Enter slowly and skip it if you are unsure or uncomfortable.

Children should always be supervised and should use shorter, gentler sauna rounds.

TAKE IT SLOW
KEEP EXPLORING

Complete the sauna ritual.

Sauna works especially well with cold water, fresh air and a slow evening outside.
