Fishing

The fishing area of Övre Åsunden covers the entire Övre Åsunden and part of the lake to about 1,5 km south of the Fästeredsund Bridge, a total of about 2000 ha. The lake has a maximum depth of 43 m, but also has large basins, the average depth is 15.2 m. The ether flows through the lake, where you can fish many species varied.

The association has an active fisheries management and has recently completed a management and development plan. This will result in managing the lake's fantastic resources in an ecologically correct and sustainable manner.

A brand new detailed depth chart is now available, this can be obtained from me. For fishing permits you can find the proper permissions and information at the link.

Do a boat trip

There is a rowboat at each of the houses. We also have two older outboard boats that you can book to get a little support for the arms on further excursions. If you are looking for more boats, I can recommend Bryggan in Urlicehamn, they rent aluminum boats with small outboards and deliver them to both houses.

Biking at lake Åsunden

There are great bike paths and accessible destinations all around the lake area. With one of the 4 normal bikes or the eMountainbike you will never be bored. At the houses are always free bikes that you can take. At Åsunden there is an asphalt track along the old railroad track with a length of about 30 km. Currently we have 6 bikes to offer, older treasures but well maintained. If you need more bikes Bryggan who rent the boats is also the right contact for bikes as well.

Adventure Trips

Treasure Hunt

We have hidden exciting treasures for you in three places. The three golden chests on our map mark the location, but they are still not easy to find. The treasure hunt will take you to the most breathtaking views! Bring a little something to trade, take a little treasure and a badge, and record your success in the logbook. Each treasure is listed on Google and is accessible by foot, boat or car, you will have to find your own way.
Have fun!

Komosse: Largest moor in europe

Breathtaking bogs and plants that invite you to be amazed. An adventure trail for the whole family on the newly created North Shore trails, that are easy to accomplish.

Hofnäs Herrgård

A wonderful excursion to Hofnäs Herrgård for lunch or coffee as all Swedes do mainly on weekends. In addition, a short hike in the oak park to marvel at brown cows. A great recommendation for the whole family.

Villa Vegby: The green house route

With the start directly at Villa Vegby, this is my 6km relaxed and easy going route. A great round for the whole family. On the route is also the treasure #1 very close!

Åsundsleden

An exciting tour along the Åsunden and the surrounding hills. It is always worthwhile to walk or cycle even just a part of it. The route is marked with orange signs throughout. Some parts run along the road.

Villa Vegby: The yellow house route

Also here you start directly at Villa Vegby with an short walk of about 3km also called our digestion round after a good meal. Exciting on boards through the swamp.

Round trip Klevaberget

Start of the nice little hike on the asphalt bike path, a former railway line. Guests of Villa Vegby reach it after 700 meters on the gravel road towards Vegby. Go further in this direction, after about 100 meters the hiking path turns left, between the houses. Marked with yellow and green path markings. If the path divides at the Klevaberget sign, please follow the green marking. The wooden walkways through the wetland are covered with wire, so they can be walked on in any weather. The hike is still marked with green markings. Only when you see the right turn indicated by the green arrow markings on the gravel track, do we go straight down towards the lake until shortly before the paved bike path, thus following the orange marking. Shortly before a barrier we turn left into the small path, again marked green and orange to the starting point of the hike. Parking is possible at the Vegby bathing area, opposite Gamlebyvägen leads to the start of the circular hike.

Bike route to Gällstad

Sporty bike path to Gällstad, with a decent slope and partly rough gravel slopes. Drive from Villa Vegby to the paved bike path via the neighboring courtyard, there is the starting point of the tour. Turn left towards Ulricehamn, drive up the green and yellow markings on the right through the barrier onto the forest gravel track. Follow the path to the Attorp farm. Pass the gate at the courtyard and drive up the paved driveway to the street. Keep right there until you come to the connecting road to the B 157. Turn right, follow the road over Götåkra. Shortly before the crossroads Vegby-Gällstad turn left into the gravel road after the priority traffic sign and drive through the forest to Gällstad. Route ends in front of the ICA supermarket in Gällstad.

Hike from Hovsnäs to Asundsholmen

The start and end of the hike is the café and restaurant in Hofsnäs. The small path of the Oxabanan path begins opposite the farm shop. Many blueberries line the path. Orange dots on the trees or orange wooden signs at crossroads help with orientation. On the lakeshore (photo) you can take a refreshing bath spontaneously and undisturbed in the heat. While the Oxabanan path turns right on a dirt road at the end of the small path, we turn left. (You may be able to park a car near the barrier on the traffic sign and take a nice walk from here to Café Hofsnäs. Please leave the turning space for garbage trucks!) We continue straight through the barrier to the last house. The gravel path ends there. Now it's getting exciting: opposite the penultimate house, you have to head through an often uncut meadow to the spruce forest on the far side, old lanes can then be seen in the forest. Walk through this forest until you meet the crossroads / path. Orange dots on the trees show that the Oxabanan path has been reached again. Turn left towards the lake, enjoy the beautiful view on the shore. This means that the inhabited property is bypassed, now it is still necessary to walk around the wet reed area. Going inland after about 10 meters, there is an initially overgrown trail that leads to the last house on an oncoming gravel road. (When hiking from Åsundsholm the path starts past this house opposite a red wooden box. Keep left there!) Incidentally, Swedish ants love buildings of at least two meters ;-) The gravel path that has now been reached leads along the bank past houses to the golf course and finally ends at the parking lot of Åsundsholm Golf and Country Club.

Short route around Villa Vegby

Circular paths / walks / jogging round in various lengths around the Villa Vegby on consistently graveled, partly illuminated paths. Start from the house, walk the path to the neighboring house, there go sharp right through the barrier. Up on the hill to the left, the path continues across the property into the forest. After about 500 meters, a path goes down to the left that leads to the paved bicycle path (former railway line). To the right from the direction of Vegby there will soon be a graveled, illuminated footpath to the left to Gamlebyvägen. There, follow the green and yellow road markings to the left. The road leads back to Villa Vegby after approx. 1 km. You can shorten the round on the bike path and go straight up to Gamlebyvägen. For the shortest way back to the villa, turn left on the bike path and quickly get back to the neighbour's linden alley, turn left into the gravel driveway, which is also the driveway to Villa Vegby.

Walks in the moor of Komosse

A convenient way on many wooden walkways through the 10,000 year old bog. The shorter way to the picnic / grill area is also possible with a children's buggy, only moderately suitable for dogs due to the strong wire mats on the footbridges. Relatively loud when walking through the wire mats. Rather crowded on weekends, deserted in the mornings of the week, with the right music, there is nothing better :-)

Roundtrip Allhammar-Cave

Small, moderate circular route along the Alhammar grotto. Parking at the start / end point in Alhammar. Orientation is provided by the orange markings on Åsundenledden, the circular route around the lake. After a short gravel road, steep descent to the lake shore. The path along the lake shore goes past the grotto and then leads up into the forest. Detour: Shortly before the forest path turns into a gravel path on the right, there is an ascent marked with film strips to the right towards Bergipfel to a magnificent viewpoint. However, the climb is quite steep. On the marked hike there will soon be a wonderful picnic area on a rock. There we leave the marked Åsundenledden and continue straight on. A small footpath leads past the houses and leads back to Åsundenledden. Now a part of the way repeats itself, but the path along the lake shore is magical in both directions. In order to save the ascent at the end, we use the driveway of the boathouse across the meadow and walk towards the courtyard on the right. From there, the route leads back to the starting point.

From Ekered to Björknabben along the lakeisde

Small nice walk with children. Coming from Ulricehamn, take the road to Tvärred, take the Ekered junction in Remma. A car can be parked at the start. Go back a little on the gravel road and then follow the red road marking to the right towards the lake shore. After about 20 meters, keep left for the detour towards bathing / climbing rocks in the Kråkebo nature reserve. On the way back, turn left at this point and continue along the bank over a small wooden bridge. Climb the game fence and walk up the path along the fence (sometimes very overgrown) until the path in the forest above is clearly visible. Ends on a gravel path, turn right, after 10 meters you come back to the gravel road to Ekeret and at the same time again on the orange-marked Åsundenledden. The parked car comes around to the right very soon. On the left the Åsundenledden leads to Alhammar and is thus the connection to the hike at the Alhammar grotto.
