Your little fleet is already waiting.
Every Calm Estate house comes with two simple motorboats and a canoe. They are included in your stay — nothing to reserve and nowhere to collect them.
Each motorboat takes up to three people and the canoe takes two, so a group of up to eight can head out onto the water together.
Life vests are available at the house and you don't need a boating licence. If you haven't driven a small motorboat before, don't worry. Watch our short guide below and take your first few minutes slowly.

Paddle away first
Leave the jetty using the paddles and get at least 20 metres away from shore before starting the motor.
Lower the motor
Put the motor into the correct operating position before attempting to start it.
Prepare & start
Follow the sequence shown in the video for fuel, choke and starting the engine.
Go slowly at first
Get comfortable with steering and speed before heading further out onto the lake.
Paddle back in
Switch the motor off before reaching the jetty and paddle the final stretch back to shore.
Don't fight the motor. These boats are simple and slow by design. Take your time and everything becomes much easier.

Take a minute before heading out. These few things keep the boats, the lake and everyone on it safe.
Paddle first.
Paddle at least 20 metres away from the jetty before starting the motor. When returning, switch the motor off before approaching the jetty and paddle the final stretch.
Wear your life vest.
Life vests in different sizes are available at the house. Wear one on the water. Children should always wear one around the jetty and on the boat.
Watch the weather.
Wind matters much more in a small boat than it does on the terrace. If the lake becomes rough or conditions feel questionable, stay close or head home.
Take a charged phone.
Keep it somewhere dry. Apart from emergencies, it is useful for navigating back after a few hours of exploring.
Keep the fuel can at the house.
A 5-litre fuel can is provided. Check the fuel before leaving and make sure the can and equipment are back where you found them at the end of your stay.
Treat the boats as your own.
The boats are included for you to enjoy. Guests are responsible for damage during their stay, and we document the condition of the boats between guests.
Please return the boats, paddles, equipment and 5 L fuel can as you found them. Missing or damaged equipment can be expensive to replace.

Follow the shoreline
Start close to shore, discover little bays and see the landscape from an entirely different perspective.
Pack lunch and disappear
Take food and drinks and find somewhere quiet that you would never have reached on foot.
